About Phase 4
The Salmon Creek Wastewater Management System is a vital part of our community. This Clark County-owned system collects and treats wastewater from customers of the Clark Regional Waste Water District and the City of Battle Ground. |
There are five major components of the current system that work together to keep our neighborhoods livable and protect our environment. They are: |
|
| The entire county system covers about eight miles from Betts Bridge at NE Salmon Creek Avenue, all the way to the Columbia River. The existing system was built in the mid 1970's to treat and clean wastewater from our community and was designed to expand to meet increasing needs as our community grows. It is now time for the next expansion - Phase 4. |
Phase 4 is the fourth of a series of planned expansions for the system, and its purpose is to cover three primary needs: increase pump station and pipeline capacity to transport more wastewater to the treatment plant, increase capacity at the treatment plant to process and clean more wastewater, and repair and upgrade existing facilities to maintain system performance and reliability. To meet these needs the Phase 4 Expansion encompasses five major projects:
The successful completion of Phase 4 will help ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of this vital community system. |
| The Phase 4 Expansion project is the result of a Clean Water Community Partnership among the City of Battle Ground, Clark Regional Wastewater District and Clark County. Formed over 10 years ago, the goal of the partnership was to make decisions for improvements that would benefit all partners and ratepayers. |
| The partners formed a team of representatives from each agency to oversee the Phase 4 Expansion, and a licensed Professional Engineer, John M. Peterson, P.E. was chosen to be the Program Manager. Mr. Peterson is responsible for managing the day-to-day work. He and the team have a common goal of serving the customers' needs to ensure that maximum benefit is received for the ratepayer's investment. |
